Once a year, usually in May or June, OSSC hosts an auction of high-quality orchids. This is the main fund-raising event for the society, and proceeds from this event are vital to the continued operation of Southern California's oldest orchid society.

Bucking the general economic environment, OSSC’s auction managed to attract more bidders and earn more money than the prior year’s auction. And for the first time in memory, we actually sold all the plants that we had displayed! While many people contributed to the effort (see the list of volunteers on page 5), special recognition should go to the tireless efforts of Auction Chair Rose Fistrovic, and the superb job Publicity Chair Carlos Cruz did in attracting almost 25 new visitors using his Web 2.0 resources.

The auction was a product of the efforts of many people – donors, members, even spouses pitched in. We recognize and profoundly thank all the people who contributed their time, energy, and items to this event.
