The OSSC Annual Picnic will
again be held at
Norman's Orchids this
year, 11039 Monte Vista Avenue, Montclair, on Saturday, September 11th, 2010 starting at
11AM and ending around 3PM. This wonderful orchid nursery is located
approximately 45 minutes east of Los Angeles and can be reached by several local
freeways. Click

The event is a potluck affair with a donation fee of $5.00 per person to pay
for the main dish and the
beverages. The members will provide the side dishes/salads and deserts.
With the many different nationalities of our members, this home made
extravaganza is always a special treat. Whether there are Armenian
pastries or Korean salads, the food is always wonderful and varied. The
plant opportunity table will be provided by Norman's Orchids. Visit their

you wish to know more about what they offer for sale and what might be available
on the opportunity table. Additionally, OSSC member purchases made at Norman’s
Orchids the day of the picnic will receive a 10% discount.
This year we are again tracking the side dishes people are
planning to bring, and you can
check the list out online. Anyone who wishes to come out and enjoy Norman's
beautiful nursery and plants can be assured that bringing your favorite dish
will be welcome - whichever category it falls into. Do remember to bring
serving pieces for your food as the folks at Norman's do not have a big kitchen.
If past picnics are any indication, there will be left over food that we will
all want to bring home with us. Remember to pack a small container for any
leftovers you may wish have.
Car pooling is a great idea as well, but the ride is short and the entire
trip took only 1/4 tank of gas in my Honda when I was out last month.
Please remember that you can sign up at the August 10 meeting. If you
didn't attend the
August meeting, please
contact our 2nd Vice President directly - she's listed in the OSSC roster
and the OSSC Organization page -
with the number of people in your group and what you will be bringing for a side
dish no later than August 25th. There
will be no regular meeting during the month of September as the picnic takes its
