2007 southland orchid show

Click to see a large version of OSSC's display at the 2007 Southland Orchid ShowThis year’s Southland Orchid Show at the Huntington Library, Art Collections, and Botanical Gardens was held on October 19-21, and featured beautiful displays by local orchid societies and vendors from around the world. The theme of the show was “Orchidelic” and, as usual, OSSC participated, offering a display based upon a classic 1968 “psychedelic” song by Cream entitled “White Room.” An open-walled "room" contained over 100 blooming orchids set displayed on pure white tables, chairs, benches, and bookcases.  The lustrous black curtains were inspired by the first line in the song "In a white room, with black curtains, in the station...". True to the  theme, "White Room" played in the background while "psychedelic" graphics, synchronized with the music, were projected onto the white ceiling. More photos of the display and its construction can be found here.
